Trivia for You is a live trivia game under the Microsoft Solitaire portfolio, part of Microsoft Casual Game Studios at Xbox Game Studios. It's currently available in soft launch on zone.msn.com.
I'm a UX/UI Designer on the title, and my work has included design for the game's first-time user experience, focused on how new players are onboarded and how the first few sessions are paced before they settle into the core game loop.
FTUE design covers the first few minutes a player spends in a game, before they've decided whether to stay. This engagement focuses on three connected layers.
Sequencing what a new player sees and does first, and how quickly they reach a meaningful moment in the game.
How the first few sessions are structured so new players understand the game without feeling rushed or stalled.
Laying groundwork in the first-run experience that supports players coming back, without relying on specific findings yet publishable.
